SELLER’S SECRETS
Why Sales is “The Final Boss” for A.I.
An OpenAI researcher says sales will be the last role replaced by AI. Researchers first, infrastructure engineers second, sales last.
The reason? Sales is pure human psychology. Trust, incentives, emotions, human nature.
This lines up with what's happening in the real world. Small business owners pulling in $20K to $75K a month are scrambling to rip AI out of their sales funnels. It's costing them deals and wrecking their reputation. If it's failing at that scale, imagine what's happening at bigger orgs.
The companies pouring billions into AI are telling you internally: sales is the final boss. That should mean something.
Here's why sales is different. You can't escape the mental game. When you're in a slump, you have to lie to yourself that everything's fine just to climb out. When you're crushing, you have to pretend it all disappears tomorrow so you stay hungry. AI doesn't wake up and wrestle with that every morning.
And people still want to talk to people. We're seeing it now. Companies going back to in-person, back to face-to-face, back to actual human interaction. That's not nostalgia. That's the market voting with its feet.
If you're worried about AI or saturation, you're looking at the wrong problem. Sales is crowded, sure. But if you're good, that doesn't matter. The people saying "sales is a scam" or bailing to client success because quota pressure got too real? They're telling on themselves.
Get a foothold. Prove you can win. Build some leverage. Apparently you're the last one they're coming for anyway.
